Egyptian Frozen Strawberries for Export
Egypt has become one of the world’s top suppliers of IQF strawberries, turning its long, sweet winter harvest into a year-round frozen ingredient trusted by juice makers, dairies, bakeries and retail brands across Europe, the Gulf, Asia and the Americas. The Festival-type berries grown around Ismailia and the Delta develop deep red colour and high Brix, and individually quick freezing within hours of picking locks in that colour, flavour and vitamin content.
PEIVANA supplies frozen strawberries with the flexibility processors and distributors actually need: full loads of a single spec, or mixed frozen containers combining strawberries with frozen mango or other IQF fruit and vegetables. Mid-size buyers are welcome — we quote realistic volumes, and we quote them the same day you ask.
Varieties & Grades
Production is based on the Festival variety and its high-colour successors, chosen for firm flesh that survives freezing without collapsing. Standard product forms include IQF whole (calibrated or uncalibrated), IQF sliced, dices, and fruit with sugar or block-frozen puree for industrial users. Grades range from premium Grade A whole berries (uniform colour, minimal defects) to juice-industry grades, with brix, defect and colour tolerances agreed per contract.
Sizes, Packing & Palletization
Frozen strawberries are packed in polyethylene-lined cartons or bulk bags to suit the buyer’s line.
| Pack | Net Weight | Cartons per Pallet | Pallets per 40ft Reefer |
|---|---|---|---|
| Carton + blue PE liner | 10 kg | ~100 | 20–22 |
| Retail poly bags in carton | 4 x 2.5 kg or 10 x 1 kg | ~100 | 20–22 |
| Bulk carton / octabin | 20–500 kg | Per spec | Per spec |
A 40ft reefer typically carries 24–26 tonnes net of IQF strawberries.
Season & Availability
Fresh berries are harvested and frozen from December to April, and because IQF product stores stably at deep-frozen temperatures, supply is year-round. Buyers can contract at harvest for the best pricing and call off shipments across the year, or buy spot from cold-store stocks.
Logistics & Shipping
All shipments move in 40ft reefer containers running at −18 °C, loaded directly from certified cold stores at Alexandria, Damietta, Sokhna or Port Said. Typical transits: 4–8 days to the Gulf, 8–14 days to European ports, 14–25 days to Asia, plus regular African services. Data loggers can be placed in every container, and the cold chain is documented from freezing tunnel to vessel.
Quality & Documentation
Each lot ships with a certificate of origin, health/phytosanitary documentation as required for frozen fruit, and full lot traceability back to farm and freezing date. Berries come from GLOBALG.A.P.-certified partner farms and are processed in HACCP and ISO-certified freezing plants, with microbiological and pesticide-residue analysis available per shipment and pre-shipment samples on request.
