Egyptian Potatoes for Export
Potatoes are one of Egypt’s largest fresh exports, shipped by the hundreds of thousands of tonnes each year to Europe, Russia, the Gulf and Africa. The country’s edge is timing and soil: light, sandy reclaimed land yields clean, bright-skinned tubers with minimal soil adhesion, and the spring crop is dug in the very months when European stores are running out of quality ware potatoes. The result is a smooth-skinned, shallow-eyed product that grades beautifully on retail lines and cooks reliably in foodservice.
PEIVANA supplies ware potatoes with the flexibility that defines our whole catalog. Potatoes fill containers economically on their own, but they also anchor mixed vegetable loads — potatoes with onions, garlic or sweet potatoes in a single shipment — and we happily run mid-size programs that fall under the radar of Egypt’s giant shippers. Specs and offers go out the same day you ask.
Varieties & Grades
Our main export varieties are Spunta — the classic long-oval, yellow-skinned Egyptian export potato with shallow eyes and versatile cooking quality; Cara — round, robust, with excellent storability and a favourite in Gulf and African markets; and Hermes — a fry-colour industry standard supplied for crisping and processing programs. Tubers are graded washed or brushed, Class 1, free of greening, mechanical damage and internal defects.

Season & Availability
Egypt ships two crops: the main spring crop from January to June — the big export window into Europe and Russia — and an autumn crop from August to November serving the Gulf, Africa and regional markets. Between the two, Egyptian potatoes are available most of the year with only a short mid-summer gap.
Logistics & Shipping
In the cool months potatoes travel economically in ventilated dry containers; for hot-season shipments and long lanes we use reefer containers set at +6 to +8 °C to prevent sweating and sprouting. Loading takes place at Alexandria, Damietta, Sokhna and Port Said, with typical transits of 8–14 days to Europe and the Black Sea, 4–8 days to the Gulf, and regular services to East and West Africa.
Quality & Documentation
Every consignment ships with a phytosanitary certificate — Egyptian export potatoes are grown in officially designated pest-free areas under Ministry of Agriculture supervision — plus a certificate of origin and any destination-specific documents. Partner farms are GLOBALG.A.P.-certified and packing runs through HACCP and ISO-certified stations with dry-matter, defect and sizing checks at intake.
