Egyptian Frozen Okra for Export
Egyptian frozen okra is one of the country’s flagship IQF vegetable lines, produced from tender green pods harvested young, washed, sorted, blanched and individually quick frozen within hours of picking. The result is a free-flowing product that keeps the pods’ colour, bite and texture intact — exactly what stew, bamia and gumbo recipes demand. Egypt’s warm Nile Delta and Upper Egypt growing zones deliver several okra flushes per year, and modern freezing plants near the growing areas allow processors to lock in field freshness at scale.
Buyers choose Egyptian origin because the pods are picked at the small calibres Middle Eastern and Mediterranean cuisines prefer, careful hand harvesting keeps damage low, and pricing is competitive against European and Asian origins. PEIVANA adds flexibility on top: we build mixed frozen containers, run mid-size programs below the minimums large freezers insist on, and answer enquiries with same-day quotes.
Varieties & Grades
The commercial standard is fine green okra frozen as whole pods. Two grades dominate export trade: Zero grade (the smallest, most tender pods, roughly 1–3 cm) and Extra grade (slightly larger pods, roughly 3–5 cm). Larger grade-one pods and cut okra rings are also available for food-service programs. All grades are IQF, free-flowing and metal-detected before packing.

Season & Availability
Fresh okra is harvested in Egypt across an extended warm season, with peak processing from late spring through autumn. Because the crop is frozen at peak and held in cold stores, PEIVANA supplies frozen okra year-round, allowing importers to contract annual volumes with steady monthly drawdowns.
Logistics & Shipping
Frozen okra ships in 40ft high-cube reefer containers set at -18°C, loaded from HACCP cold stores in Egypt. We ship from Alexandria, Damietta, Sokhna and Port Said, covering lanes to the Gulf, Europe, Asia and Africa. Partial pallets can be combined with other frozen vegetables in the same reefer to complete a container.
Quality & Documentation
Product is processed in HACCP and ISO-certified freezing plants, many BRC-certified, drawing raw material from GLOBALG.A.P-certified partner farms. Each shipment travels with a phytosanitary certificate, certificate of origin, health certificate and analysis reports on request. Pesticide residue testing to destination-market MRLs can be arranged before loading.
