Egyptian Zucchini for Export
Egyptian zucchini (courgette) is a fast-turning winter vegetable line: glossy, straight, dark-green fruit cut young, cooled within hours and shipped while European field production sleeps. Grown in the Nile Delta and under low tunnels in newer desert areas, the crop is harvested daily through the cool months, giving packers a steady flow of small, tender calibres that premium markets prefer.
Egypt’s winter climate is the origin advantage — zucchini keeps growing here from autumn to spring without heated protection, keeping costs well below glasshouse alternatives. PEIVANA turns that into a practical program: zucchini rarely fills a whole container for mid-size buyers, so we load it alongside peppers, cabbage, spinach and other winter vegetables in one mixed reefer, with quotes returned the same day.
Varieties & Grades
We ship dark-green hybrid varieties selected for straightness, gloss and shelf life, with light-green (Lebanese-type) squash available for Middle Eastern programs. Class 1 fruit is young and firm with tender skin, intact stem cut, no scratches or bowing beyond tolerance, and seeds barely developed. Grading is by length and diameter, packed tightly to prevent rub marks.
Sizes, Packing & Palletization
| Spec | Detail |
|---|---|
| Calibres | 14–16 cm and 16–21 cm lengths (small/medium premium grades) |
| Cartons / crates | 5 kg cartons or 6–10 kg plastic crates, single layer aligned |
| Retail options | Flow-pack or tray packs to order |
| Pallets per 40ft reefer | 20–24 pallets depending on pack |
Season & Availability
The export season runs from October to May, peaking December–March. Daily harvesting means weekly shipping programs are easy to hold consistent; volumes taper as summer heat arrives and European local supply resumes.
Logistics & Shipping
Zucchini is chilling-sensitive, so reefers are set at 7–10°C with high humidity; it should never be stowed with ethylene-heavy fruit. We load from Alexandria, Damietta, Sokhna and Port Said for short lanes to the Gulf and Mediterranean Europe, with other destinations quoted on request. Rapid post-harvest cooling and short transits are what keep this delicate item green and firm on arrival.
Quality & Documentation
Supply comes from GLOBALG.A.P-certified partner farms, packed in HACCP and ISO-certified packhouses with hydro- or forced-air cooling before loading. Shipments carry a phytosanitary certificate and certificate of origin, with residue analysis to destination MRLs available pre-shipment.
Why Buy From PEIVANA
Our buyers rarely order zucchini alone — they order a winter vegetable container: a few pallets of zucchini, a few of colored peppers, some cabbage or spinach, all at compatible temperatures in one reefer. Mid-size volumes, one supplier, one set of documents, and pricing back the same day you ask.
