Egyptian Black Eyed Beans for Export

Black eyed beans (cowpeas, known locally as lobia) have been cultivated along the Nile for millennia, and Egypt remains a trusted origin for cream-coloured beans with the distinctive dark eye, thin skins and quick, even cooking. Grown mainly in Upper Egypt and the Delta and sun-dried before processing, Egyptian black eyed beans reach the market clean, uniform and low in moisture — exactly what packers, millers and wholesale distributors need for repacking and retail lines across the Gulf, Africa, Europe and Asia.

PEIVANA supplies black eyed beans as part of a full dry-legume range, and our flexibility is the point: buyers routinely combine lobia with chickpeas, lentils and white beans in one dry container, hitting full-container freight economics while spreading the volume across four or five SKUs.

Varieties & Grades

We ship the standard cream cowpea with black hilum in machine-cleaned export grade: sortex colour-sorted, sieved for size uniformity, de-stoned and polished. Typical commercial specs run 99–99.5% purity with controlled admixture, broken and damaged kernels within agreed tolerances, and moisture around 12–14%. Counts (beans per 100 g) and specific screen sizes can be fixed by contract.

Sizes, Packing & Palletization

Spec Typical options
Bags 25 kg and 50 kg polypropylene (PP) bags; 25 kg paper bags on request
Retail packs 500 g / 1 kg polybags under private label, cartonized
Loading Palletized or floor-loaded per buyer preference
Container 20ft dry: approx. 24–25 tonnes floor-loaded; 40ft for volume retail packs

Season & Availability

The crop is harvested in late summer and autumn, then cleaned and stored under controlled conditions, so export availability is effectively year-round. New-crop contracts can be booked ahead of harvest for buyers who want first parcels.

Logistics & Shipping

As a shelf-stable dry good, black eyed beans move in standard dry containers with kraft paper lining and desiccants where humidity on the lane demands it; fumigation is arranged per destination regulations. We ship from Alexandria, Damietta, Sokhna and Port Said to the Gulf, Africa, Europe and Asia, and dry legumes are our most common building block for multi-SKU mixed containers.

Quality & Documentation

Consignments include a phytosanitary certificate, certificate of origin, fumigation certificate where required, and weight/quality certificates on request. Processing runs through HACCP/ISO-certified cleaning and packing facilities with lot traceability back to grower groups, and pre-shipment samples can be couriered before confirmation.
